The Past

I bought my first Whippet, Reba, in 1995. She was purchased as a companion/obedience Whippet from a breeder. In 1998, Reba earned her Companion Dog (CD) obedience title and in 2000 she earned her Companion Dog Excellent (CDX) obedience title. In 1997, I acquired Nicholas from another breeder as a companion for myself and as a buddy for Reba. Reba lived to be 9 and Nicholas went on to nearly 15.

In 2000, Jackson came into my life -- Whippoorwill All The Action CD RN TDI CGC. I was thrilled that Barbara Henderson, VMD (Whippoorwill) trusted me as one of her Whippet owners. This also marked the beginning of a 15 year friendship and mentorship with Dr. Barbara Henderson for which I am truly grateful. Jackson went on to become my “heart dog” and lived to nearly 14. He touched everyone he met in a magical and gentle way and became well known at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, Maryland, where he was a loving Therapy Dog.
